Boudoir End of the Year blog

Wow it's hard to believe that it's nearly the end of 2012. This time of year is crazy busy for so many people and as you can see by the state of my neglected blog I've been among the busy. I really truly do need to come up with a posting system to keep up with this. 2013 goal right there. This holiday season has been amazing and I'm looking forward to an excellent 2013 filled with beautiful clients and amazing sessions.

I can hardly believe that I've been in the new studio for four months. Moving out of my home based studio and into an actual studio space away from home has been an exercise in adaptation for sure. My family seems to be making the transition pretty smoothly and I'm learning all about commuting times and traffic again. I am so in love with my space though and am thankful for it every time I set foot in there. I'll be hosting a studio open house in February so do be on the lookout for the information about that.

2013 will be full of new session types and products and I'll be announcing them over the coming months. Here is a quick shot of one of the many new finished, ready to hang product's you'll be able to get from your photo session this new year. Our 16x24 inch 9 image wall art piece. It's the perfect way to display images from your boudoir, pin up or glamour session. Not to mention they'd be fantastic for a maternity session too.

If you're not sure where to find us on various social media outlets look no further. Here are the links to everywhere you'll want to follow 422 Studio in the coming year.

Virginia Pin Up Photography

I'm often asked if you can combine a vintage, cheesecake, pin up photo session and classy, modern, boudoir photo session in one and the answer is, of course! 422 Studio has been Virginia's pin up studio for years and it is still one of my most popular session styles. The new studio in Richmond easily allows for both. We have a dedicated boudoir room in addition to a wide selection of pin up background colors and themes making it easy to fit both styles into a single session. So whether you want to schedule a Pinup, boudoir or glamour session we've got you covered.

Richmond Glamour Photographer

I know I've said it about a million times but I LOVE MY JOB. I get to meet interesting, beautiful people who have amazing stories to share AND then play dress up with them and take pictures. I met today's beautiful boudoir client at the Virginia Breast Cancer Foundation, Night of Honky Tonk Angels, fundraiser last year. I knew right away that I wanted to work with her. She had the most amazing smile and the happiest eyes. Who wouldn't want to be the photographer to work with that combo? Well, it took a while to get her in to the studio to see me. She was honestly one of my more nervous clients and at one point I thought she would back out of doing her photo session all together. Seems crazy to think of her being nervous when you look at her pictures. She didn't back out and I am so thankful for that. She was a blast to work with and it was fun to watch all of those nerves melt away during her session and see her really embrace the day. I love doing boudoir and glamour photo sessions but when you get to connect with a client after wanting to work with them for so long it really makes for a great day. I say to every woman that you deserve a day of pampering and she really truly did. I'll shut my yappin and get to showing off her pictures.

To the lovely Miss W you are beautiful. Thank  you for spending a day playing dress up with me.

Rediscover your sexy side

Ginger,
Thank you again for everything, you truly made me look at myself in a whole new way and my husband is extremely happy too!
I still look at the book and can not believe it is me, he was amazed and still has not stopped talking about it.  It was funny he was blown away he said he was proud of me for doing it and he had no idea what I was up to, then he wanted to know if a guy or girl took them LOL.  I told him a girl and we had to become close friends fast, it was really easy because we are both moms and look at motherhood the same way!
All the best,
S
Reason #623 that I love my job.

Did you know that I work with "average", "ordinary", "soccer moms" everyday? These are the descriptions I hear all to often from my clients about themselves when they first come in to see me. You'd be surprised by how many of the lovely ladies gracing my site and blog claim to be "just ordinary". I beg to differ with them on their assessment of themselves. I'm sure you do to.  I, being a working mother of 4, can totally relate to this feeling of being so average it hurts though. It's not easy keeping up with the day to day and still managing to somehow squeeze in time for yourself. Between working, drum lessons, dance, baseball and the multitude of parental errands I run daily I'm lucky to wear matching shoes never mind looking polished and put together everyday. I know all to well the trap we can fall in to by forgetting precious "me time". We can get everyone, everywhere that they need to be but rarely do we mom's truly take time out for ourselves.

I get so excited when I can spend the day with an "average" client and have her leave feeling so good about herself. Then I feel amazing too and I realize that what I'm doing really does make a difference in the lives of my clients. I love what I do and one of the reasons I love my job so much is because I get to spend my work day making other people feel good about themselves. I get to be there when a woman see's her boudoir pictures for the first time and can't believe that gorgeous woman is her. I get to show them a side of them that is always there, but sometimes tucked away underneath a life full of "to dos". A boudoir session is about so much more than just getting sexy pictures of your self. It's about reigniting the spark inside of you that makes you feel desirable, beautiful, sexy, and confident. It's about having something tangible to look back on that recalls a time in your life where you were absolutely stunning. It's about taking time out of the day to day to embrace being a woman.

So I'd like to take a second and thank my clients, past, present and future, for choosing me to be the photographer to help you dust off your hot self and get back to enjoying being a woman.

Thanks! You all make my job the best there is.
Ginger

Bridal Boudoir Photography, VA

Should I do a bridal boudoir session as part of my wedding?

Absolutely!! A bridal boudoir session makes an incredibly sexy grooms gift. Why give him a tie, watch or a flask when you could give the gift of you? That's what he really wants after all. Your wedding is one of the most exciting times of your life. You've been working extra hard to look amazing on your big day. You are feeling and looking amazing. You've likely added a healthy dose of lingerie to your wardrobe for the big night too. What better way to commemorate all of that hard work, and thoughtful shopping, than with a pampering boudoir session and beautiful images of you. The perfect gift that you'll both love.

422 Studio loves photographing bridal boudoir. Many of my clients are new brides looking to create a unique, classy, sexy and completely unforgettable grooms gift for their husband to be.

Bridal boudoir sessions can be done here at the studio or at one of many Richmond, VA area luxury hotels. Looking for a truly unique alternative to a traditional bachelorette party? Book a boudoir party for your bridal party. Then all your best girls get to share in the fun.

It's also a great opportunity to work with your wedding day makeup artist or I am happy to set you up with one of my preferred artists. Many of whom offer bridal makeup services as well.

A 422 Studio beauty book or album is also sure to bring a smile to your grooms face. They come in a variety of sizes, styles and cover options, including my most popular album the sexy image wrapped album.

Richmond, VA Boudoir Photography

This has been the busiest 2 weeks. September is crazy around here every year. We've got back to school, fall sports, my son's birthday, the holiday photography season kicks into full gear, add to that the move into the new studio and last but not least MY birthday. Yeah September is action packed around here. I'm sure it is in your house too.

What's nuts is I feel like it's one of my favorite times of year because it's an exciting time of year. I love the holidays and all the parties that we attend and host. I love fall and the start of sweater season.  It's almost time to be done with sweating all day and being eaten by bugs when you're outside at night. Yup! I'm ready to bring on Fall.

I have several sessions to blog over the next few days, some Bridal Boudoir, an anniversary boudoir session but today since I'm in a sweater mood we're going to blog something a little different. This is the first set I've shot in the new studio and we went for a soft and inviting feel because that's how I feel about my new space. I love the light in there, it just makes you feel good.

So without further delay I present you with a sweater session.

I'm asked all of the time about wardrobe. One of the questions I get fairly often is "Do I have to wear lingerie"? This clearly shows the answer, NO. You don't. I do encourage each woman I work with to bring outfits that she feels her best in. That doesn't always mean lingerie. Confidence is sexy and if you're most confident in a cozy sweater, that will show.

Want more inspiration for wardrobe, whether lingerie or not? Follow me on Pinterest. I'm adding boards for what to wear for various types of session and soon I'll have them for Glamour Photo Sessions, Maternity, Boudoir, Pin Up and more.
